Attn 73-87 midwest guys

It looks as if I am heading to Oklahoma in a couple weeks with a friend to pick up a truck he purchased. I am looking for a clean fleetside shortbed up here with no luck, and thought I would see if anyone here has any leads on one in OK, KS, MO, etc...basically anywhere between OK and MN.

Also, we would like to stop at any local junkyards along the way, yards that have 70's and older stuff...with en emphasis on 70's Chevy and Dodge trucks. So if you know of one, please let me know.

Thanks in advance!

From what I gather, central Oklahoma. I don't know the exact city though...but will try to find out.

EDIT: Found out, the city is Piedmont.

Jeff, you might try kansas city's craigslist because there have been several short beds on there in the past couple of weeks. Trevor

Re: Attn 73-87 midwest guys

If you guys have any links you can PM me, that would be great! It looks like we will be heading straight south to Kansas City, then thru Topeka and Wichita. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

I have been looking in your area...lots of stepsides, but I am looking for a fleetside.

Re: Attn 73-87 midwest guys

Here is a nice one in KS City. It is one that I am actually looking at, but don't have the money yet.
http://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/1055321719.html

What budget range are you looking at? I'm actually looking for one myself. Just sold my Camaro so I'm on the search. However children's dentist stuff is cutting in my truck budget! That's ok though!
There are a couple of them here in the OKC area, but they need some work. Not bad, but don't know what you are looking for.

BOX only...sorry if I was unclear.

That bed in Indiana is VERY tempting...but just a TAD out of the way like you mentioned.

I don't even need one and it's tempting. For what it's worth, South Bend is right off I-80/90.

Sorry im geographically challeneged at the moment where is Twin Cities? But if its where i think it is you could head down I-44 through tulsa i know where there is atleast two beds that i have looked at in the tulsa area at a bone yard i think if i remember correctly they have like 7 or so trucks at the yard, ill see if i can find their name and number for you i was just driving and saw them thru the fence and stopped, so i could get back to it if i needed but ill try and track that down for you. dunno what the price is on them but i would imagine pretty reasonable their front fenders sell for $50 and gutted doors for $75 (from what he quoted me). also if you guys would need a place to stay i could facilitate for ya and maybe save you a bit of $$ for a hotel. (owasso is bout 15min north of tulsa on hw.169

Re: Attn 73-87 midwest guys

Its too bad youre not looking for a whole truck... I was in Alexandria MN this weekend and saw one of the cleanest original looking 77 chevy shortboxes ever. It was for sale at a used car lot for $7500 with about 35K miles. If I had the cash I would swoop it up in a heartbeat!
