Mounting a fuel cell
I have a few questions about mounting a fuel cell. Should I be mounting it in the bed or below the bed? I would like to put it in the right spot for weight transfer the first time. It won't be hauling anything in the future. When I make my retaining straps should I insulate them with rubber to protect the aluminum tank? What do you use for a vent on the tank? I was thinking of running a hose from the rollover valve to an inline fuel filter.

Re: Mounting a fuel cell
In bed aluminum tanks don't use straps, they have tabs. As for under bed tank if it has a strap system I would use rubber insulators.

Re: Mounting a fuel cell
Hey that is the same tank I have! There was a note attached to mine saying to only use those tabs for locating but obviously they serve the purpose for yours. BTW how did you vent your tank?

Re: Mounting a fuel cell
The line on my battery side with the coil in it is the vent line, it is open ended under the bed.

Re: Mounting a fuel cell
Like you mentioned, a small filter at the end of the vent line will keep dust, debris and especially critters out of the line. Here we have a species of bee that gathers bogenvia flowers and packs them into every dam open tube they can find!!!

Re: Mounting a fuel cell
It looks like I have the same cell as 71Dragtruck. I have it mounted in the same location but on top of aluminum tubing. This way I didn't have to cut a large hole in the floor for the sump.
I have the vent line coming from the same port. Mine goes to a filter then to a charcol canister. No need to use straps or rubber mounting isolators.

Re: Mounting a fuel cell
Thanks guys. That helps a lot. I can't wait to post some timeslips. I've been trying to get this thing to the track for 2 years now and am now finally getting the little odds and ends together
