Putting the Pieces Together
I finally have stopped changing my mind and decided on what direction to go with my truck. It is a 71 GMC pickup currently with a 68 Chevy doghouse, the frame is a shortened 72 Chevy, and I am not sure what the SWB fleetside bed came from (only paid $300 for it around 5 yrs ago.)
I bought a 67 SWB frame to build up, so I wouldn't have to tear my truck down to build the frame. I c-notched it 3 inches and was in the process of building all the needed crossmembers, when I decided I really wanted to lay it out on the ground. I am working on finishing up the KP components notch. Once that is in, I am going to start laying out the triangulated 4 bar I have and once it gets to me I will be installing a Porterbuilt dropmember upfront. The drivetrain is '95 LT-1 350/4L60E and 12 bolt rear with 3.73's. I am currently running 18x8 Intro Pentia's with 245/40R18's and 18x10 Intro Pentia's with 285/35R18's. If money allows, I am going to switch to 20x8's and 20x10's. I have a rust free cab to swap on, but need a dash for it and some other pieces. Still haven't decided if I am going to cut my current cab up to make one good cab (it has solid floors, but needs rockers and cab corners.) Here are some pix and will post more as work progresses.

Re: Putting the Pieces Together
LOL It's about freakin time I actually worked on this thing. I actually need a whole dash. I cut the one in the cab I have just before where it is pinch welded to the cab. I thought the other one I had was the whole thing, but it was cut in the same fashion and I don't want to tack weld across the whole front of it. I can take a pic at some point if this doesn't make any sense. I also need the area where the rearview mirror mounts and the drivers side upper fender blind nut area. I will take some pictures next time I get over to my storage building.
When do you get out? Are you moving back this way? The move and setting up a new house has eaten up a lot of my time, but my goal is to have the chassis done by this summer and have the truck mostly complete before I leave. I should have a decent pile of parts to sell once I get this together and know what I do and don't need.

Re: Putting the Pieces Together
Little more progress this weekend. Got the notches welding in and the frame cut out. Then spent some time deciding how I am going to mount my 4-bar. Now I just need to get some more steel.

Re: Putting the Pieces Together
I was originally going to build 2 one to drive and one to show, but have figured out 2 would be too many. So, I am trying to make this as show as I can and be a daily driver.
I wouldn't want to cover that chassis you built with a truck. You do some nice work. I was going to use your trailing arm build, but ended up deciding on 4-bar.

Re: Putting the Pieces Together
Made a little more progress this weekend. I built a bracket for the back of the rearend to attach the upper 4-bar mounts. Plans for this week are to finish boxing the frame and layout the rest of the 4-bar mounts. My wife and daughter are out of town so dad gets to play all week.

Re: Putting the Pieces Together
You'll have to wait till tomorrow. I forgot the camera today and don't feel like going back out. I did get the frame boxed from the notches almost to the center crossmember. Hope to get most of the rest done tomorrow.

Gonna be a sweet chassis for sure. Nice truck and good luck with the build.

Re: Putting the Pieces Together
It's been a while since I made an update and have been able to sneak out to my shop a few times since the last post. I scrapped my original idea for the upper bar mount and made another. I just need to finish weld the upper bag supports and the rear suspension should be pretty much complete. The mounts on the rearend are just tacked on because I am using the 5 lug rear out of my truck once I tear it down. Few pictures below. Enjoy!

Can't wait to see the Burb in person! I will be happier when I am ready to paint this thing (the whole truck not just the frame.)
