Aluminum Flywheel? + Chassis Pics Inside.

Just wondering if theres a definite advantage to going with a lightweight aluminum flywheel if its to be used on the street (other than the obvious of course). I know the RPMs are supposed to drop WAAY faster, just wondering if its worth it. Anybody running one behind your small block? I'm at the point in my build where Im about to start puttin the drivetrain together and puttin it on the chassis...........thought to myself,......hmmmm Aluminum flywheel?? hmmph.

I don't have an answer to your flywheel question but your project looks great. What kind of fuel cell are you using and are those later model upper and lower control arms on the front?

Re: Aluminum Flywheel? + Chassis Pics Inside.

I ran a aluminum flywheel once upon a time in one of these trucks. I used a new then centerforce clutch and m22 with a 350 and tunnel ram/solid lifter .570 crane came. The flywheel will definitely let the rpms come up but in a heavy truck the heavier flywheel will workout better in the end. Motor would RPM up quicky but come down just as quick. From past experience you don't want to do it, spend the money on something else.

Yeah, they are uppers and lowers from a 73-87. And the fuel cell is a "Jegs" cell from them. I built the frame that holds it out of 2x2 3/16" Angle Iron.
