I was reading a post on this the other day, how much difference is there between 69 an 85 stepside or can anyone find that post? I searched under shortbed and could not find it?

Overall they are pretty close. Check out this FAQ thread on what it takes to make the 73-87 bed work.

The difference in 73-87 stepside beds and 67-72s is the front stancion blends into the step which blends with the fender.The 55-72 front stancions end at the bottom of the bed,like the rear ones.
