Re: boxing in trailing arms
I don't have an answer for you, but I think CPP sells a kit for that and check out the suspension forum. Someone there built a set of adjustable trailing arms with tubing.

Re: boxing in trailing arms
why would you want or need to? With just some minor mods mine have been 1.25 60ft.

Re: boxing in trailing arms
I don't plan on boxing mine in when I switch to a trailing arm suspension. I just ran some stitch welds down the top and bottom seems.
DJ, what modifications did you do?

Re: boxing in trailing arms
Mine were welded when I got the truck and I think they have small plates welded to the top and bottom at the front. I'd love to try some of the new tubular ones. Just to lose more weight.

Re: boxing in trailing arms
I haven't done anything to mine yet. Other than the adjustable brackets. I guess it couldn't hurt to weld the seems or out some plate on them.

Re: boxing in trailing arms
I don't have any good pics. They are just welded on the seams and have about a 1x5 inch plate welded on the top and bottom at the front.

Re: boxing in trailing arms
I paid a guy to do some suff on my truck that was the worst mig welding I had ever seen. I figured I could do better than him and I can.

we have a flux core cheapo welder i can weld pretty good with that when it wants to work i used an arc welder to do my trailing arms
i had to weld over it twice to make it even the first welds looked good but the second welds looked like crap

Re: boxing in trailing arms
Man guys.. Go buy a used Snapon Welder. I have one that is probably from 1980 and the guy that does all my fab work has the same one. It's a 220 and it kicks butt. My buddy Auston just found one for $550 on E-bay. Well worth the money.
I can try to dig up a model number. This is basically it http://cgi.ebay.com/SNAP-ON-MIG-WELD...3A1%7C294%3A50

Re: boxing in trailing arms
I have a miller 110 machine that will do 95% of what I do. I bought a regulator and use it with argon. If I need bigger I get one of my buddies to mig or tig it.

Re: boxing in trailing arms
It was my understanding that some of the mid 60's into maybe the 67's actualy were recalled and boxed at the dealership. I have had 2 66's that were boxed and I bought one from the original owner and he told me it was done at the dealership per a recall letter?!?!?!?!
