Mech. fuel pump location - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

OK I'm about to go nuts here. I've looked all over the engine bay for the fuel pump and I just don't see it (It doesn't help that everything is covered in grease)

I've got a new one coming in tomorrow, but as of right now I can't even find it. Anyone have a picture of the stock location for the fuel pump in a 77 C10?

if its a small block or big block v8 it's on the passenger side right in front of the exhaust manifold. it will have a hose going from it to the frame. or just follow the fuel line from the carb to it.

Not trying to be a jerk but if you dont know where the fuel pump is the fuel pump drive rod will probably have you pulling your hair out

I've been working on fuel injected systems with the pumps in-tank or near the tank for years. This is the first time working with an older vehicle/carb setup. Of course I'm not going to know where things are at right off the bat.

And if the drive rod gives me problems, I'll hit it with a hammer. It's always worked for me in the past.

Don't know if the hammer will help. Don't think the old saying "If all else fails get a bigger hammer" applies here.

i had trouble with mine a few days ago... the rod that goes up and down was stuck. took a few to figure out how to get it back up to put the pump on.

That article should help you out, another thing i do is ill use a short length of old hacksaw blade to hold the rod up and slide the pump into it. Once you start screwing with it youll see what i mean
