My truck project has ended..
After the help of all of yall on here and Houston54 I have worked out a deal wiith the P.O. to buy the truck back as it was sold under the assumption of it being clipped with a camaro fornt end.. I will not go into details about all of what has transpired but he knew I was buying the truck to lay the boards and this was an important feature to me and it doesnt have one..
So now I will kill my project build thread and start the search for another truck.. maybe one that has not been altered already....

Re: My truck project has ended..
That sounds like a good idea, or with the times as hard as they are you could find a truck already built for half what you could build it for. I know that takes all the fun out of it, but its much faster and much cheaper

Re: My truck project has ended..
I hope I am hearing that the PO was an honorable guy and acknowledged his "misunderstanding" without too much resistance. I know around here, there are probably 30-40 rod, muscle, truck, etc. "projects" in the local thrifty saver paper (I think you can search them at American Classifieds on line) and on craigslist. I wish I had the money, in January there was a 62 Dodge two door sedan factory Max Wedge numbers matching in pieces for $1200, that sold in two days. I remember seeing a few AD and TF trucks already clipped. Good luck.

Re: My truck project has ended..
Wow allot has changed since this morning.. The P.O. called me and asked if he refunded half the money for the truck would I keep it..
I said yes... I just cannot see letting this one go for $600.... So the project is back on again... he is a good guy and I should be able to pick up a front clip out of a malibu for that if not less...

Re: My truck project has ended..
this may have been brought up in your build thread, but why not go the route of an S-10 frame? I'm sure you can pick one up for less than $600 easy.

Re: My truck project has ended..
i agree with IvelDesigns the st rought is a good idea that is what i went. i picked a whole truck up for a $100.00. i bought a kit to mount the body instead of making my own though.

Where can you get one of these kits?

Re: My truck project has ended..
here's one that i just found. It's not the kit i was thinking of, but it's priced the same:
http://www.e-zchassisswaps.com/1947.htm also, there are lots of threads in this forum where guys have built their own kits for much cheaper. takes time, and some skill, but saved a ton of $$. If it were me, and i had your truck, this i the route i'd go. I've never been a fan of cutting up a frame to begin with. |

Re: My truck project has ended..
you can buy the kits from http://www.ad-engineering.com/ and from http://www.e-zchassisswaps.com/index.htm. Not too bad as far as doing the job.
However, if you like doing a little extra work and getting into it fully check out this link....http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...ead.php?t=8491 That's the one I followed. Took me about 4 and 1/2 months to get it all done. That's with dropping in a v8, bags, 4link, and everything else to get it on the road and driving. I've got a build thread showing everything I've done. Any questions, just ask away. Later, Josh |
