The emergency flashers on my '74 are not working but the turn signals, brake lights, and regular night lights work fine. When i push the button for the flashers nothing happens but with the switch on when i step on the brake pedal both arrows light up on the dash but no flashing.i already replaced both flashers on the fuse box what should i check next.

You may have a bad flasher in your truck, it;s a small box that looks like a relay next to your fuse box. Try changing that out first.

Can anyone think of anything more that it could be?

Some had two flashers,one for turn signals, one emergency flashers.Common trick back in the day was if the turn signal flasher quit was to rob the E. flasher

thanks that picture help a lot i'll be going to the parts store today to buy them, are all the flashers on the counter at the parts store THE SAME or is there specific ones for our trucks?thanks!

They just go by how many lugs they plug in with. Some are two lug and some are three. I think most of our trucks are two-lug.

My preference it to replace the OEM with an electronic. They're a little more expensive though at about 10 bucks. They look almost the same as the OEM's but they're clear plastic. Why do I like em? They flash more consistently and I can hear their click better. (too much Led Zeppelin in the day...)

thanks i'll go to the parts store today and check out the electronic ones too.

yeah electronic are much better. espescailly if you plan on running them with LED bulbs you will need the elctronic because of the resistance issues with LED bulbs. They are also sometimes refered to as trailer ones because the supply better power reguardless of the added resitance of trailer wireing

if it doesn't fix the problem, try another flasher.
i have had bad flashers come right out of the box before

Ok i think i found the problem. Yesterday after work i went to buy a new flasher and when i went to put it on it seem to fit loose on one side, and when i looked in the fuse box the connector wasn't there. It seems that one of the connectors on fuse box got pushed back but i couldn't find it, so today after work i'll be pulling the fuse box off the fire wall. Thanks a lot though guys great help.
