Backspacing and Suspension Questions
I think I have finally decided on a new set of wheels. I really like the way the polished Coy's C5's look and they are more friendly on a broke college students wallet. I was wondering how it would look if I did 17x8 with 4 1/2" backspacing on the front and 17x8 with 4" backspacing on the rear. I hate it when it looks like the front wheels stick out further than the back. Also what would be a good size tire for this set up. I was thinking 255/40/17 in front and 275/40/17 in the back.
I was planning on lowering the front with 2.5" drop spindles and 3" drop springs and a flip kit in the back. Is any body else out there running a similar set up that could share some pics. Also will this suspension set up affect the driveshaft angle or length. I am new to lowering vehicles. Thanks in advance. |

My truck is lowered a bout the same what you are planning just a little lower in the back I'm using 3" springs and spindles and a flip kit with removed leaf springs 3 reaming out of the factory 8 , and I would go 7'S in front and the 8s with 4" bs the tires would be ok, and I don't have any problems with drive shaft

I believe(somebody please correct me if I am wrong) that all 2wd, if not 4x4s too, light duty trucks, and blazers came from the factory with 3" overall wider trac width in the front than in the rear. Therefore the wheels that you mentioned will stick out more in the front than in the rear. You should have an inch and half more dish on rear wheels to even it out.

Flamingbig10 what size wheels/tires are you running? Also what is your backspacing? I have heard people talk about having to trim their control arms when using drop spindles, did you have any of those problems?

the wheels are 15x7 in front with 215/70' and 15x8 in back with a 1/8" spacer with 275/60's and there's 4.125in Bs for both, and I don't have any problems with the control arms, I've put all aluminum wheels on the front and they would rub the brake calipers and spindles badly and the wheels wouldn't even turn

Good luck with not rubbing with 4.5 bs on front
Ihave 17x8 on front with thesame set up as you > 2.5 spindles & 3 in coils .THEY RUB THE CONTROL ARMS when turned sharplyMY B S IS 5.5in.my tire size is 255x50x17 on front . 4 in bs on rear will be close but probably will be ok , since the rear wheels dont turn |

Coy's also has a 17x7 with 4 1/4'' bs. Would that fit better than the 17x8 with 4 1/2" bs? I also like the BOSS 338. Summit has it in 18x9.5 with 5" bs and 18x8 with 4.5"bs. I had only budgeted around $600-700 for wheels, but I am open to other ideas. I found a good deal on some 20" Coddingtons on craigslist that I am gonna check out tomorrow. The guy didnt know what the bs was so I guess I will have to go see. I really appreciate all of the help and advice. BTW slugish your truck is awesome. That is the "look" I am going for. The stance is perfect. Should I expect my stance to look similar to that.

I found another wheel I like. It is 17x8 with 4.75 bs. Does anyone else have these wheels?

god lokking wheel . the size & bs should be perfect for the front > about all you want to stuf f in your fender well without other mods. My wheels are torque thrust 11,s > but may be a bit too common for you .
