Tubular contol arms

Is there an advantage to running these over stock? Suspension is my next step after I clean the frame all up and por-15 everything. I need to replace the coils and figured id replace those with stock and put 2.5" drop spindles on but got to searching on here about the control arms and really didnt see anything as far as quality for one over the other. Most was just personal preference.

Re: Tubular contol arms

I have tubulars on my rig only because I needed to get 1/2T arms (I have a 3/4T truck) to take advantage of 1/2T brakes, spindles, etc. I would say the advantage is, in order of actual value:
1) Looks
2) Improved geometry for severe drops, and a very far distant #3:
3) suspension performance

Theoretically, tubular control arms hold their precise shape in even the most demanding handling situations, but that's mostly non-sense in my opinion, stock arms do just fine.

The geometry superiority in most tubular a-arms is that you can run a deeper spring drop (read: bags) without that horrible negative camber problem - because most vendors sell their arms with a camber improved upper arm design for dropped rigs.

I wouldn't do it if I already had good arms.

Re: Tubular contol arms

They give a bit more ground clearance on top of looking good and having improved geometry for alignment.

I think the strength thing is overvalued on these. It's a truck, you're not gonna be doing much(if any) canyon carving with it anyway.

Re: Tubular contol arms

Also, If you are going to run 15" wheels, the tubular arms eliminate the possible wheel/control arm interference concern when running drop spindles.
