Hydroboost M/C questions - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Ordered a hydroboost unit today and am looking for an aluminum m/c to go with it. I have found one from Pirate Jack that has a 1’’ bore. What is the difference between a 1’’ bore and a 1 1/8’’ bore??? (I know 1/8’’ haha). Should I be looking for a m/c with a 1 1/8’’ bore??? Has anyone run an aluminum m/c from these guys they seem cheap on the price and have good customer service. They also have the alumiunum proportioning valve for disc/disc that I will order.

Any thoughts guys

All I really need to know it what is the difference or advantage in running a m/c with a 1 1/8'' bore vs. a 1'' bore.

They offer a 1 1/8" bore in different styles...then why use a 1" bore, I suppose the bigger bore would give you more volume

They are close to me!!!....great customer service too....had a leaking prop valve, called them they sent me a new one and told me to return the old one once I get it off....sorry didn't mean to hijack the thread!

In general...
The larger pistons in front calipers (front fullsize car and truck) require the larger master cylinder.

A smaller master cylinder will work, but the larger will work better.

If you were using the smaller (aftermarket) dual piston calipers then a smaller master cylinder would be ok.

I hope that is enough of an answer.

Pirate Jacks is the retail site of the company who manufactures our brake components and also many other companies. They are good parts or else we would not sell them. We sell all the same parts a little less than they do but many companies jack the price up considerably higher. Customers tend to think that since they are less expensive that their is something wrong. Not in this case. Many of their products are stamped with some famous names in the industry. We can have our named stamped or etched into the parts but that raises the cost of the part. I would not fear buying anything from Pirate Jacks.
