You may already know this, but use only "Grade 8" bolts washers and nuts. They're made from hardened steel and can withstand a lot of force before they shear.

You can get the grade 8 bolts, nuts, and washers from your local Tractor Supply very cheap. They sell all grade 8 hardware by the pound in bulk.

Re: Bolts/Nuts for motor stand & mounts

just about zero wheight load on the motor stand bolts the whole load is gravity holding it down those bolts merely hold it in place and any torsional forces from the engine are disapeted thru the rubber in the motor mounts

Re: Bolts/Nuts for motor stand & mounts

If you are mounting the engine on a engine stand go with the grade 8 hardware. If you are talking about it sitting in the truck then stainless is the way to go.

Re: Bolts/Nuts for motor stand & mounts

grade 8 is overkill
there's hardly any aplication on your truck that needs 8, grade 5 will do fine.
otherwise, sneakysnake is right, you have to measure the tube he circled on his photo.

Re: Bolts/Nuts for motor stand & mounts

The oem's used grade 5 because thats the grade that it needed and it saved them money. For the cost differance (pennies) I would just buy grade 8
