Re: what kind of hp
I'm "blistfully un-hip" on texting, but, I'm guessing when people text, they don't use any punctuation? Might explain it. Oh, onlyifihadachevy, I'd guess 1152hp! Of course, I'm a bad guesser, because I've been playing the lottery for years and haven't won more than a few hundred dollars here and there!

Re: what kind of hp
i will try to get more information. But, i bought a hundred dollars worth of one dollar tickets won like 68 dollars and a few tickets turned those in and got more and came out with 18 bucks. And the man is slightly crazy and it's just sitting in his house on the floor because he needed the lift would know it was missing for years.

Re: what kind of hp
Yeah, what do the dollar tickets have to do with a 500 ci motor that this other guys has laying around in his house? And he wouldn't know it was missing for a few years huh?

Re: what kind of hp
All I will say on the subject for now is.. I viewed the user account, and this is a younger member. Perhaps we can keep that in mind as we read and reply
onlyifihadachevy. Please take the time to slow down and use at least line breaks, if not punctuation in your posts. I tend not to use proper punctuation at times as well. It does however make it very hard for folks to read. If you wish for the members to take you seriously, and share their knowledge, please take the time to make your posts easily understandable. As for the tickets, cool its always fun to win stuff.. thing is 86 + 16 = $2 more then 100 which you spent out. I would not get that excited |

Re: what kind of hp
the lottery was to do with what with Jay said
BUt i talked to guy and he said,"It said 1500 hp on dyno and i will think about giving or loaning it after i finish my car and see if i like the hemi or that." and he never did a dyno when it was in a truck so he doesn't know how much it would get at the wheels

Re: what kind of hp
dude,
can you get a hold of serious specs for us? so that we can know what exactly you are talking about? 1500 HP is NOT for an inexperienced driver... i personally have been building and tuning cars with friends (not professionally) and find once we pass about 600HP the vehicle becomes a monster and still scares the hell out of me... but good luck either way

Re: what kind of hp
The guy is lying to you. A 1500hp NA 500 ci motor, if possible, would probably cost more then $50 grand.
I don't even know why I'm responding or reading this thread.

Re: what kind of hp
its only for bogging but i dont think the dyno was right for the same reason but he has a motor that he put over 30k into, but wild some 383s make over 800hp

Re: what kind of hp
For example, In January I had a chance to pick up a 519ci Big block based on an after market block and aluminum heads, with the best of the best components in, built for street use with 9:1 comp designed for future vortech blower. The machine shop was selling it for a customer that needed the cash bad. (Our good old economy makes for good deals if you have cash) The shop had built it with close to $20,000 into it and then dyno'd it. It made over 700hp naturally asperated, was estimated for 1200hp with the vortech, (street motor, RIGHT).
I was phoned on a Monday that is would be $7000 or best offer by Friday. I really didn't have that cash, but come on----I through $6000 at it but it was gone by Wednesday at full pop. Could you blame anyone at that price if you had the need. Cost 5 to 6 to build anything decent now a days with machining and parts. Kanuck

Re: what kind of hp
In response to damnitmitchell. You are correct sir! 600hp is scary fast. Hell I have a 08 Subaru STi pushing close to 400hp (engine) I would approximate the WHP to be in the 350 range. Point is it can still scare me. I have had 11 sec cars and to tell the truth unless I was racing every weekend there is no point to numbers more than 400HP. The more power you have the more trouble you should foresee.
They are fun for one thing. Burning tires and doing crazy donuts! LOL. As far as ifonlyihadachevy. Read some how to build performance chevy engine books and you can find out what you are looking at to accomplish your goals. It truly takes alot to build a rock solid engine that will push past the 500hp mark. I have seen more than my fair share of them and they are truly amazing machines. I would not even consider the engine that guy has sitting on the floor. If it is a true race engine you would want to tear it down and check it out before running it that hard. Mud dragging and bogging takes insane amounts of rpm and torque both of which kill engines. Last edited by OrangeAnimal; 03-17-2009 at 09:18 AM. |

Re: what kind of hp
if i get it i was going to take it a part because there must be a reason its sitting there and not in one of his trucks, and i was thinking about building a 383 or 454. That way i wont destroy my axles and still get some gas mileage.
