Rough Running

I have an 86 SWB with a 75-80 model 400 SB in it. When i park it for 2-3 days it will miss and run rough for about 2 minutes and it will smooth out.But it is getting worse and I"m starting to lose some water and I have a feeling it is a blown head gasket and it will puff a little white smoke every once and a while. And I have a little water coming out of the tail pipe am I on the right path? any suggestions?

Re: Rough Running

Check your plugs, they will tell you if you're getting water in a cyl, but you
might find that one is oil fouled and doesn't fire til it is hot.

Any manual will have the "sparkplugs with different problems" picture.

But make a note of which plug came out of what hole, just in case.

Re: Rough Running

400's are notorious for head gasket failures. siamese bore holes, steam port holes between cylinders. Pay attention to the gasket when you tear down and where it has failed, check that head and the block for metal erosion
