69 High School Cruiser/DD project
As i am in dire need of a daily driver, i simply had to put my 65 on the back burner.
Barn find much? So, i simply hit craigslist and instantly fell in love "1969 GMC Short Box (Silverdale) -2500" me -> So, me and the old man set off to silverdale with a full tank of diesel and a uhaul trailer We bought it, and loaded her up and headed home its a 69 GMC c10 swb with a running 350/350. In its previous years, it has been mistreated and has been ghetto rigged in many ways. It has power brakes, power steering(ran with out fluid many times), 2 key ignitions and duel exhaust (hung by coat hangers).Since the 65 and the 69's share the same parts, i have a large amount of parts for this truck already. Such as disc brake with drop spindle's, lowering springs, wheels, and a tonne of small block chevy parts, his build should be FUUUN! At the moment i am waiting on the OK from the boarder custom's so i can import this truck into canada and start rippin this thing apart! Tuesday is the day she is comin on home, this is gonna be the longest 3 days of my life My plans are: Build up the 350 (roller rockers, cam, intake carb etc) Disc Brake swap(sitting on my shelf) Lowering springs 4.11 posi gears (sitting on my shelf) Relocate gas tank Bodywork Paint Put my big meats on (centerlines) Stay tuned, More pics/progress coming!

Re: 69 High School Cruiser/DD project
I had those rims on my '90 TA-wanna-be Firebird.
If you do any freeway cruising, stray away from the 4.10s.. Their a PITA if you want to go above 65-70 for any amount of time. I love the acceleration, hate the freeway that I have to take though Last edited by texanidiot25; 03-15-2009 at 03:58 PM. |

Lower, taller tires in back and it's set! Love the width though, fat meets in back.

Re: 69 High School Cruiser/DD project
Did a little work today, put my msd's on, runs pretty good, doesnt burn oil. it is just in dire need of a new carb or carb rebuild. Holley's are terrible for daily driving arnt they?
yummy

Re: 69 High School Cruiser/DD project
Looks like a typical pennzoil motor to me. I would be sure to keep it that way or bad things are most likely to happen. Nice truck, though, put on the hub caps!

That firewall makes me think she had an engine fire at some point but the rest of her looks great other than that crap under the valve covers....

Re: 69 High School Cruiser/DD project
thanks guys, im just outside of Vancouver, Tsawwassen. Did some more work on the truck today, put my carb on, took the that ugly a$$ rear bumper off. I ran the numbers on the motor, it seems to be the original 350 4 bolt main, so i started pulling it today and start the rebuild.
Oh and i watched my classmate fail and driving his F#$D explorer onto the hoist
