Re: Who Chrome Plates Parts?

it would corst WAY less to buy chromed ones. You can look around, but chroming is VERY expensive.

Re: Who Chrome Plates Parts?

You really need to work with someone that is a small job shop plater - prefer someone that works with classic auto parts already - many platers can not, do not or will not deal with a small order - and they may not know how to deal with the kind of metals that we use if it is different than stamped steel.

Advance out of Nashville is likley the largest custom auto chrome plater in the nation - I have not used them but they do a huge volume of custom, classic and muscle car chrome plating - very fine work

Re: Who Chrome Plates Parts?

I've been getting parts chrome for friends on another forum. Can plate Steel, aluminum, plastic, etc. Usually takes about a month.

Cost wise I agree with the earlier post that you can buy some for less than getting them plated but that's your choice..

Re: Who Chrome Plates Parts?

There's a shop near me that does chrome plating....the REAL stuff. EPA regs have made establishing a new chrome shop prohibitive. So, there is another shop near me that does cobalt plating. This is the stuff that can go on a motorcycle helmet, for instance. There's a difference in what they are and the prep work that goes into the finished product, but you may find an old bumper repair shop in your area and that's who you may want to contact.
