Transmission Questions
Hi Folks,
I am brand new to this site, and I really like it. I was wondering if some of you were willing to give me some advice. I have a 1972 C/20 with a 350, mostly stock, has headers and electronic ignition. Nothing special. It has a three speed on the column. I use the truck to pull a horse trailer, which it does quite well and has for years. My clutch is going, how much work would it be and how hard would it be to convert it to a th400 or an overdrive transmission? which one would be better? OR, do I just pull the current 3-speed, and put in a new clutch and forget about it. I would really like an auto for towing. they are just easier. What do you think? |

Re: Transmission Questions
I would change to an auto. I have swapped from a 3spd to a turbo 350 and it was simple. th 400 i think you have to do more for the kickdown. someone else can chime in on that one. btw your thread will probably be moved by a moderator to the drivetrain section or not . And welcome to the board.

Re: Transmission Questions
I've done it before too. I was just letting you know that it may be moved at some time and don't be surprised. If its over there you may get more input from somebody a lot more knowledgable than me
