e-brake cable removal

i am taking my rear end out and i am stuck on getting my e-brake cables off of where they are connected to the trailing arms. and advice would be great!

There should be a small clip or retainer on the cable housing, on the front side of the bracket on the trailing arms. If you remove the clip and slide the cable back it will slide out of the slot. This is one of those things that is really hard to explain in a post so I hope it makes sense...

i took those clips off and it is a real pain to pull that cable back. i thought that is what you had to but i couldnt pull the cable back enough. im sure there is a little trick to doing it.

Make sure your e-brake is not on and you should be able to pull the outer housing back far enough to unclip them from the brackets. Then you can get the slack to disconnect them from the metal connector that connects them to the front cable.

Worked fine for me.

are you talking about the peice that is on the trailing arm? do i need to have the rear end un bolted? btw i forgot ot mention that rust is a hug issue when it comes to my undercarriage

Yep, the bracket on the trailing arm has a clip that you pull off, then you pull the housing back enough to allow you to slip the cable thru the slot on in the bracket, then you have enough slack to unclip the rear cable from the front. You need to make sure you don't have the e-brake on, as this takes up any slack you get with the housing.

Here's a pic showing mine removed.


BTW, not you don't need to have the rear end unbolted first.
