Post 50th Anniversary Info

I just received my 1968 Chevrolet Truck Data Book today. Wow, what a source of info! One of the neatest things I have bought on ebay! There has always been talk about what interior came with the 50th Anniversary Burbs and Panels. According to the book, the Fawn interior was the only interior available for the 50th Burbs and Panels, and the parchment/gold was not available. Now the pickups had to have the parchment/gold interior to be part of the 50th package. Also, I don't see the El Camino offered in the anniversary package.

No Author Randy, It is the data book put out for the salesman back in 1968 by Chevrolet. It is about 3 inches thick and has everything you would want to know about the 1968 model year. Someone before had said that you could get an el camino with the 50th package. Parchmant and gold interior was not available in the 50th burbs or panels. They were all like mine with the fawn interior. This come directly from the source in 1968. If I can figure out how to take the book apart with out damaging it, I will scan the page that give the info.

Thumbs up

Wow that sound like a great resource. How did you come accross that? There must be some good pictures to scan out of that. Anything interestion on the 68 Longhorn?

I have said the El Camino was available in 50th colors based on a 68 Chevrolet internal dealer rag that I have. Looking at it again, It implies that the El Camino was available in 50th colors but it does not come out and say it exactly as such so I don't know for sure now. I'd go by what your kit says 68Burb.

We should find a good El Camino site a pose the question.

Randy, it is hard to see in this picture, but if you look carefully at the last column you will see a star4 in the Anniversary Column. The footnote states that the fawn was the only interior available for the burbs and panels. The column next to it in the parchment/gold column has a footnote that the sport vans had the parchment/gold interior. This page does not include the pickups.

Here is the cover of the data book.

Is this a 50th Anniversary Step Van? Sure looks like it.

toms68cst, I have not gone through the book that carefully yet. I just noticed that Anniversary Gold was not one of the colors listed for the El Camino. Maybe I missed something. I will check more later. And yes, this book is unbelievable wealth of info. It has anything you would want to know. I can't even begin to describe it. I have a 1969 Data Book coming in a few days!

Here this might be easier to read. Straight from the Generals Mouth.

This page is for Suburbans/Panels and Sportsvans.

This page is for 10-60 Series trucks.

toms68cst, it wasn't cheap, but it is worth it. Hey, there is a 1968 order form in the front of the book for $9.95 postage included You can take your chances and send it in to Chevrolet and see if you get anything back...lol

LOL, There would be just as much chance of getting one of those books as if I took my truck to the Chevy dealership and seeing if I could get warrenty coverage on my 68. Parts of the original warrenty covered stuff up to 50k miles. I have 48K on mine.

Fast, If what I am seeing is correct, The Burbs and Panels lacked the Gold/Parchment seats that the trucks had.

Nice Score on some rare GM data.
Thank you for posting those pages.
I wonder what the production numbers would be for the anniversary edition?
How would you determine whether one had buckets or bench seat originally?
Most parts folks do not carry replacement interior items with the correct colors such as dash pad (gold) or those rare seat covers.
I would like to see some pics of the details of the original interior for these rare trucks.
E-bay is indeed a source of some valuable information.

Hutch, the data book has some nice info about the different seats. It even has a section from the manufacture of the seats. I will try to get it scanned in the next few days.

Here is the int. on a 50th Longhorn. It has the tripple bucket seat that came with the CST in 67/68.
