Slammed trucks
Any of you guys around 4/6 or 5/7 have a hard time getting on or off dove tail car trailer.

Re: Slammed trucks
Had to call a tow truck once... it had that slide out/down ramp. Barely cleared the front bumper with 5/7 drop

Re: Slammed trucks
I had to put a jack under the front of the trailer to raise the trailer higher.

Re: Slammed trucks
yea, what he said. a good tip to get a lowered vehicle on a dovetail trailer ( i have a 18 footer) is to jack up the tongue until the ramps are on the the same plane as the dovetail to avoid dragging.

Re: Slammed trucks
Take a few pieces of wood and build small ramps to back the truck up on... Easier than jacking up the trailer... usually use a 2x8... Cut pieces at an angle and screw together...

Re: Slammed trucks
When you put it on a trailer, you do have the option of raising the tongue. To drive onto a set of ramps, you will usually need that additional wooden helper to let the front bumper not drag on the ramps as you drive on them.

Re: Slammed trucks
The truck I am talking about backing or driving on to ramps is the one pulling the trailer... Pull or back the back wheels up on ramps... The same as jacking the trailer tounge up... I have seen guys throw those oil change ramps in the bed and use them for this... I dont trust them holding the weight of a truck/trailer and whatever your driving on the trailer...
