What is it??? What is it's purpose???
This spring is on my clutch pedal on my 70 c-10. Anyone have any ideas as to it's purpose? It runs straight up and down from a tab on the cowl to a bolt on the pedal shaft.

Re: What is it??? What is it's purpose???
I took my clutch out years ago, but I believe it keeps the clutch pedal in the "up" position and when the clutch is depressed, pulls it back to the "up" position.

to help pull the pedal up so there is no 'pedal weight' riding on the clutch.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was to help deter ppl riding the clutch too. Last edited by Longhorn Man; 03-18-2009 at 06:10 PM. |

I think that one keeps the throwout bearing from riding against the pressure plate and wearing it out prematurely.... LockDoc

Re: What is it??? What is it's purpose???
Thanks for the response, my 67 didn't have this spring, i thought it might have been a PO add on...so basically the spring on the pedal acts sorta like the brake booster less effort to push in the clutch. The spring on the linkage holds the linkage together and pull the T.O. bearing off of the pressure plate...makes sense...thanks for the comments and input!
