Ignition Timing
I think my timing is off or my advance isn't working...went taking off she's very sluggish and if i give to much gas she bogs but once i pick up a little more speed she's good. Any ideas? Thanks

Hello 85silverado, just had the same problem with my 86. It turned out to be the EGR valve. Also check all vacuum hoses for leaks. I know there are alot of 'em.

I would check your timing and see if your advance is working using Swervin's article http://www.73-87.com/garage/101s.htm Also check for vacuum leaks like 86 Silv. mentioned.

I went looking around in the engine bay and you were right...the vacuum line from the egr valve to the carb was laying on the manifold...i plugged it back into the egr valve and sluggishness is all gone now..hehe....it seems like a really loose fit tho...so i'm gonna replace it asap

Glad you figured it out bro. I am putting a 350 in mine over the holidays and will be replacing all 3 miles of vacuum hose.

I'm pulling the 305. It just doesn't cut it for hauling around my 18' trailer and JD 855.
