Re: NICE craigslist find! Pittsburgh Pa

It does not seem like a mud wagon, in the description it says an elderly couple traded it in, if that true it's probably all original. Good deal.

Re: NICE craigslist find! Pittsburgh Pa

I'd sport it. Minus the green bug deflector. Would have to change the interior parts over to black too, but other than that, it's nice.

Re: NICE craigslist find! Pittsburgh Pa

Your right about it being very clean/straight for the rust belt! My 87 is in way worse shape and I paid about the same price.... plus lots more fixing up the body.

Green is cool, bug deflector would have to go and the white walls with hubcaps.

I'm not a big fan of green, but that would look sweet with fresh whels on it.
The only thing that kills it for me is the cab lights.

yea,i missed that, they got to go too.a nice clean lowered truck just doesn't look right with cab light's and camper mirror's.but,if your going to leave it stock.it all work's together.it seem's like a couple of odd option's for a 2 wheel drive short, half ton.cab light's and camper mirror's seem more for 3/4 and1 ton's ,or truck's with camper package.

i didn't really think something was "up" with it.i guess your thinking like a cab swap? i just meant it's weird option combo of cab light's and camper mirror's on a shortwide half ton.it doesn't even have a hitch.but yet seem's set up for towing.with truck's this old who know's what someone has done to them.thing's could be dealer ordered pretty much however you wanted them.and chevy had some odd combo's.mine for example was a diesel. 2wd,swb.there's guy's on here that now model's better than i do.but,i would say that if that truck came that way from the factory it's something you don't see very often.

Re: NICE craigslist find! Pittsburgh Pa

I think I might ride out and look at it.... Around these parts you do not see trucks that clean.. Everything rusts around here... $2500.00 is cheap for around here too... I just can not believe that the exterior is that nice and the interior is so trashed... I must say the inside of the bed looks super clean...

Re: NICE craigslist find! Pittsburgh Pa

My '78 Big 10 SWB came equipped with cab lights, camper mirrors and a 454. I found out after I bought it that the dealer had ordered a 3/4 ton LWB Camper Special and my truck is what the factory sent. Whoops!

Re: NICE craigslist find! Pittsburgh Pa

Looks like a nice truck but it does have signs of a repaint . I looked at the pics and notice the tailgate latch mechanism and rubber bumpers are painted over . Not from the factory . Also the bed sides do not line up with the bottom of the tailgate very well like it may be a newer gate .The truck is a Custom Deluxe but has tilt and cablights . The brake pedal is a Power brake automatic pedal but the truck does not have power brakes . The air cleaner unit is a later model unit I think . The original should have had a smaller opening and not a connection for a fresh air duct , especially on a non air truck . It is a nice looking truck but I would look it over very good if you are wanting an original truck . If you are looking for a solid shorty , the price is nice . I would look it over and as long as it is solid , its a nice deal .
