Re: Picture of latest Blazer I am working on.

Welllll Seeing how you asked..
what you see there is the sum of a 5 year restoration project. The owner brought it to me, because he could not get it to run, nor would the turn signals and brake lights work. He purchased the Blazer in pieces so he kinda started out behind the eight ball on this.
Anyway, after a short conversation on the phone and me explaining that I do not repair wires, I replace them.. He agreed and brought the Blazer to me.
Well when he pulled up into my parking area I asked him how he planned on unloading it from the trailer? (because it didn't run)
He said that he would just drag it off by tying a rope to the rear end and the other end of the rope to the telephone pole out next to the street. Then just pull the trailer out from under it.
I was floored, and said that he had better not damage the telephone pole, or he would be responsible..
He agreed and said that he had done this kind of thing before and that the pressure on the pole wouldn't be that great, because the trailer was a tilt model.
So I agreed to let him do it.
Well with him in the Blazer and his brother started to pull the trailer out from under the Blazer.
Well the trailer only tilted 2" and then stopped tilting!!
I yelled to stop, but his brother must not have heard me, because the kept pulling. Well the back of the trailer was about 18" above the ground so when the rear wheels came off the trailer, the Blazer slammed down hard on the ground. Fortunately it has a 4" lift kit in it so at that point it was undamaged.
I yelled to stop once again, but again I wasn't heard.
Well then the front end came rolling off the trailer and slamming to the ground. I thought this can't be good...
So he climbed out of the Blazer and we started inspecting the Blazer for damage...
Well when the front end rolled off the trailer, the front end went down at the same time the trailer jumped up!! All while it was still rolling forward!!
The trailer slammed up into the front bumper, shoving it up into the chrome plated steel grill and rolled the lower lip of the bumper outward, pealing and cracking the chrome on both pieces.
If that wasn't bad enough, we started walking toward the back of it when we spotted the top of the right front fender had been shoved into the door, cracking out the paint and we couldn't open the door. So we walked around to the driver's side and saw the same thing only we could open that door.
Closer inspection revealed that the windshield frame had been pushed back about 1/2" causing the vent window pillar to overlap the windshield frame about 1/8". Major stuff there!! Come to find out he hadn't bolted the top to the Blazer because he wanted me to install new seals on it. It was being held by 2 "C" clamps to the truck. Had it been bolted down, it would have saved all the damage to the windshield frame, fenders, and doors....
I said, I thought that this was a tilt trailer.... He explained it is.. I said why didn't it tilt up then... He said that he thought it did... I explained that the only thing that tilted was his Blazer when the rear wheels came of the trailer..
So he inspected the trailer and he had pulled the pin on it, but forgot that there was a broken part on the right side of the trailer and he had to strap it down to hold it. He forgot the strap!! Anyway there are a few other things that happened to it, but this was the worst and this is the sad story behind the Blazer. WES

So Wes,

How many miles of wiring are you up to replacing so far?

Too bad... It looks like he invested a lot of time and $ to have it destroyed in a matter of (preventable) seconds.

Re: Picture of latest Blazer I am working on.

When I asked him how he loaded it, he said that he drug it on with his wife't Tahoe.
One thing I forgot to mention is that the brakes don't work either. That is one of the things I am supposed to fix. I am replacing all of the wires in it because they have all been hacked into.
I feel realy bad for him, but one things for sure, when it leaves here the stuff that I do to it will be top notch! I just hope that it doesn't wind up costing him too much to fix the body. WES

I didn't even get thru the first paragraph and slogans like "Heres your sign" and "You might be a redneck if" were coming to mind.

Re: Picture of latest Blazer I am working on.

I will take more pictures once I make it drivable. It is too heavy to roll in and out of my shop to take pictures and my camera doesn't take good pictures in the shop. WES
