Late Model 4X4 to 2WD conversion?
I know on the 73-87 frames you can change the front crossmember for a 2WD conversion from 4X4. What about on the 92-99 Yukons and Tahoes? Is it possible, or has anybody done one or, studied the possibility? I am seriously thinking about doing this project on a 2 DR. model. But need some input before I dive in.

can be done but not the way you are planning. the 88-98 4 x4 frames are totally different from the firewall forward. you would have to hack it from the firewall forward, and graft on a 2wd frame and suspension. before you think too long, crawl under a 2wd and take a look. you'll catch my point pretty fast. i have a 4wd 2 dr and i installed a bell tech lowering kit to bring it down 3.5 inches all the way around, and i like the look and ride much better now. good luck.

Frame graft
I thought that might be the approach to take on the conversion, grafting a 2WD frame and suspension to the frame at the firewall. Would have to make some real good measurements, so sheetmetal etc. would all line back up right. Have to figure tranny crossmember too. And swap rearend for 5 lugs all around. Probably use a shortbox pickup for the needed parts donor. Nothing we can't handle so far.
