I believe there are pins on the axle tube that register the axle to the leaf spring pack. Has anybody gone from the wider 2wd to the narrower 1 ton Longhorn and 4x4 frame dimension? What is involved?

I have a friend that wants to put one of my Dana 60's with 3.54 gears under his Longhorn instead of the Eaton with the screaming engine gear ratio. His 454 would be much happier.

"Screaming engine gear ratio" - funny! I have one of those in my '68.

I haven't done the conversion yet, but I plan on a Dana 70 conversion. It will require leaf spring pads welded on (I'm pretty sure you can get them at Summit). I don't know if the brake hoses have the same size fittings or not.

I cant help you, with your question but I learned something as of late that may help.
There is a company that rebuilds the corporate nodular sections.
Apparently there is a demand for that 10 bolt with a 10"+ ring gear:O
They make a higher gear (3.something,,3.7? maybe). This may help with the screaming 4.57+- gears and would be a quicker install.

I just put a corp-14 under my 72 4x4.
I took the axle into to a local welding shop and had them air-arc the spring pads off. as it turned out the shock mounts where different also so I should have had them done to. Cost 30 bucks.

After that I just lined the same spring pads up so the axle was centered and rotated the pinion up a bit for the lift kit and welded the pads back on.

Then I had to torch off the shock mounts. This corp 14 had been on a different 70 truck, so they where the right ones, just too wide.

So I had to weld them on too. The Corp 14 has the "One in front, one in back mounts" that are not correct.

I can't tell you about a dana-60, but I imagine it is about the same drill.

It is possible to cut the old perches off and weld new ones on. Available from Summit or Jegs for about $15. The frame is the same, it is the spring perches that are different. Randy's Ring & Pinion, www.ringpinion.com has 3.90 gears for the corporate when combined with tall tires (31-33" tall) is quite liveable. My Sub has 235 85 16's on it(!)and does quite well on the highway.
