wondering what it takes to get 5/6 drop.

hey folks, question from a newbie. i know i will be told to search or not get reply. but id like to lower my new truck. 71 c10. v6. i looked at some kits but dont see 5/6 drops. mostley 3/4 with springs/blocks/spinle or shock. mainly id like to know if ill need to have the frame knotched? i was hoping not. only because i dont have lots to spend on the extra knotch. any help would be great. thanks,
and if you folks wouldnt mind posting a couple shots of trucks at different drop hights, that would be better than great.

No notch required with a 6" rear drop. Just install 6" drop springs
Use 2.5" drop spindles and a 2 or 3 inch drop spring. (4.5 or 5.5 inch front drop)

This will get the height correct,... but you still need to buy a few things.
1. Buy a good set of drop shocks.
2. Next you will need a set of shock relocators in the rear.
3. Buy an adjustable rear track bar. (panhard bar) this will allow you to re-center the rearend after you lower it.

Look at ECE (Early Classic Enterprises),... they should have everything you need.

You may want to be a little more conservative with your front drop. There are guys here that have done it and are happy with it, but that's a good bit of drop for the front. Tire clearances are going to be tight, and your control arms are going to be hanging very low. I'm not saying don't do it...just spend some more time lookinig around the site and ask some of the guys that have done it how happy they are with it as well as how do they use their trucks.

6" of drop out back shouldn't require a notch. I've got one that's lowered 6" in the back and I drive it hard and do haul stuff....and it does bottom out from time to time. My next one I do will be notched.

You're going to have a good bit of rake (or stink bug action) with that much drop in the front. Mine is dropped 6" out back and 3.5" in the front. If you do decide to go 5" in the front you might want to think about either using bags in the back or adding a block in with the 6" coils to get it down a bit more so the proportions will be right. Of course doing that would almost guarantee that you would have to notch the frame.

thanks for reply fellas. i figured 5/6 cause i thought i read somewhere thats the way to go. i dont want to spend money on a drop kit and then be unhappy with drop. at the same time, i dont want a ride that rides like crap. dont have money for baggs.. maybe down the road a bit( quite a bit). im gonna check out ece now. also gonna look into cpp drop spindles...

Other vendors offer the parts at a lower price, but you will not receive the amount of customer support/satisfaction like you will at ECE.

i was on there site a bit ago. looks like they have a 4/6 kit for 750. i thought the kit might be a little less. but seems to have most of the parts the guy who first responded told me id need. might end up going with them and that set up... we will see. thanks for help and replies guys.

Question? Does anyone know where I can get a set of 6"drop springs for a 69'? I have looked in a lot of different spots and have yet to find any. Thanks for the help.

If you're asking for rear springs go to www.earlyclassic.com If you're wanting them for the front...they don't make em.
