Steering column
I'm thinking about changing my stock steering column with a tilt column. I heard you can can use one out of a Chevy van. Does anyone have a suggestion on what type or year of van i can use. I have plenty of recking yards around. Thanks

any chevy van up until around 80.Not sure exactly what year they put ignition switch on the column but as long as the column doesn't have the ignition switch it will work with a few mods.Also some motor homes have the same van column.

I bought opne from classic perform and saved me a ton of headaches. Specially since in Miami you have zero chance of finding a used column of a van.

72 - 81 GM vans
Early ones look dead on right for the trucks, the turn signal switch is a direct plut in, the shifter arm is long like the truck ones, the perndle has the right font. The later ones have a smaller shifter arem which is cool if you wana run a small wheel. |

$25 to $45 for a van unit that looks stock or quite a bit more for one that still needs more parts to complete.

I put an IDIDIT column in a Blazer for a customer, and it was ok, but not an OE tilt column. The fit and finish was perfect, but the shift indicator was not lit, and a bit hokey. For my money I would spend the bucks and get a factory tilt!
