Question 73 vs. 72 buckets are they different ?

i picked up a set of factory bucket seats from a 73 pickup and they look real close to 72 buckets. they have factory covers under the existing covers so i'm not sure on condition on the OEM covers. will these seats interchange with 72s or are the covers different? i was going to use them in my 77 blazer but if they are more valuable to someone with an early truck, i'll just have the seats redone that are in there now. i did saw the brackets from the 73 cab so the seats could be installed in a 73 up cab.

Re: 73 vs. 72 buckets are they different ?

I put a set of 73-77 truck buckets in a 70. We used the 69-72 Blazer flip forward pass seat brackets which bolted to the seat frame with no mods. The Blazer brackets were all I could find, but this means the truck brackets would bolt on too. IIRC, the top corners of the back support foam is less rounded, but it would be difficult to tell with the correct year seat cover on it.

Re: 73 vs. 72 buckets are they different ?

I think the drivers side seat brackets are about a inch higher, in the front than a 69-72 set.

Thumbs up Re: 73 vs. 72 buckets are they different ?

thanks for the replies. it looks like they could be used in a 72 and earlier as long as some custom covers are used instead of original style covers. since they are uncommon even in 73 up trucks, i'll post them over there after i pull the covers off them.

Re: 73 vs. 72 buckets are they different ?

The seats look very similar but there are quite a few differences the foam is much smalller on the 73-75 and requires a lot of building of the foam or modification of the upholstery. The mounts are much higher and the seat skirt is angled on the 73-75 and is basically straight on the 69-72, this means either the skirt has to be lengthened/replaced or the upholstery has to be either rolled or modified. Hope this helps.
