I deleted the 2wd ad that I put in the forum because of all the information you guys have given me. Through your suggestions it makes much more sense to me to find a 4x4 with a good/great tub on it and do the conversion. I plan to bag it and am considering a Porterbilt front dropmember and a 4-link rear now so might as well go with a cheaper start and from what I understand a better way to go lower...

Budget is up to 10K for a project that's already converted and set up for bags, probably honestly looking to find one in the 2-5K range with a great body and then build it the way I want from there. I will consider the entire US as a search area because I assume the best tubs are going to be out west of course. Would like an A/C truck but I could add that (Vintage/Old Air) and prefer tilt and tach but I have both of those already

Would also prefer original seating but that is up to debate...might go with the new tahoe front and third rows...

Thanks for all the information so far and I will be picking your brains some more if you don't mind...maybe I can return the favor with parts I pull off my blazer/jimmy when I find it.

Below are just a few of the "inspiration" pictures I've saved for my build...Plan on a 67-68 front, cowl hood, 20's all around with a staggered (wider) width rear, leather interior, nice stereo molded in with fiberglass panels on the sides, strong 350/383/400SB with 700R4, Tilt column, Tach Dash or Custom dash (still deciding) Airbag suspension with Dropmember, 4-link, sway bars, etc etc etc....

Has anyone modified a stock top to fit a raked back windshield? I really like that look but figure that's getting into a major amount of work and $$$ to make that look right with a top. I plan on mainly driving this during cruising season (about 6-8 months here) but will not always have garage space for it so It'll have to have a top.

I have...I guess I should clarify to say that I would love to run it topless completely like 5150's AWESOME blazer, but plan on using it as a backup family hauler so it'll need a top and A/C and heat. But, I'd like to modify the stock removable top to fit a raked windshield...I will run it w/out a top from spring through fall but want to be able to put a top on if it gets kicked out of the garage for me to work on home remodeling projects.

Ok, its got a 350 carb with 5-speed standard shift, 3:08 gears in a rebuilt rear-end with big drum brake upgrade. It has new 20" x 8.5" Boss whells with Goodyear rubber (0 miles). It is a 4x4 conversion however, it is on a 2WD frame. Frame has a minor c-notch. It is currently dropped with drop springs. Add air bags and it will lay on the control arms, similar to picture above of my old truck. It does have a brand new Vintage Air unit mounted behind dash but not hooked up. It has a full set of Autometer Phantom gauges with electronic speedo and sender. All the gauges are electric. The body is in good shape, rocker boxes look solid and feel solid. Door corner showing a few small bubbles. The firewall had some rust at the windshield corners but has been cut out and fixed. Firewall has been smoothed. The grill is a GM original in great shape. The engine has late model pulley and accessory setup. Of course, it has on of my 18 gallon aluminum fuel cells in it. Interior is in good shape maybe a bit outdated but fine for a cruiser (velour). Sounds pretty good to me...I checked out the post...can I get some more pictures? Details on vintage air setup (WHat controller and what needed to complete the installation) Do you have any contacts w/ transporting it or would I need to work that out? Discs or drums in the front? Details on the motor build and what tranny,posi? rear. Thanks!

i have not gone to look at it but did you get any pictures of the bad spots? would he go any lower on price?
