Re: burb tailgate info
Nothing like that was ever offered from the factory on the suburbans. It would have been an aftermarket customization most likely done by a company that builds Hearse's

i only seen them on the newer one's like 95 96 or so. i have seen a chevy tail gate cut and half before in a zig zag line down the middle to have two swinging door's that opened.

Re: burb tailgate info
You could probably use the hinge set up from a late model Chevy Astro van...

Re: burb tailgate info
I saw this type of gate on the big GM wagons (Impala, Cprice, etc.) I can't remember if it was the 80s version or the early 90s version. But never on a Burban or Blazer.

Re: burb tailgate info
i just seen a gmc/chevy van today it was a safarie or some model had the dual door's that swing open, & then had a window above the door's. the window above the door's pulled up & opened upward's, and then the little door's would swing open, one to the left one to the right. they looked the same height as a chevy tail gate..........was like a late 80's or 90's van chevy or gmc..........

Re: burb tailgate info
I think gm started the tail gates that swing open and fold down in the sixties and ran them through the square body Impalas and caprices. Gm also had them recently on the Eonvy I think. I would look for a wagon to retro fit the latches and hinges from. This would be a pretty cool mod.
