Wind wing rivet repair -

Can anyone tell me the proper rivet to use when repairing the rivet that holds the window onto the frame? I have used pop rivets in the past, but they are a little suspect in the long run.

Re: Wind wing rivet repair -

I want to use an existing frame and replace the rivet. Has anyone done this before?

Re: Wind wing rivet repair -

LMC sells a vent window repair kit, it would have the rivets you need

Re: Wind wing rivet repair -

Hey Dan42,

I completely rebuilt my wings...new weatherstriping and rivets....got them from truckandcarshop.com....
If you just need the pivot rivot (say that fast....sounds like a frog...haha), I may have one somewhere left over from the kit.....I'll look tonight, but can't make any promises...
Might want to look in the FAQ area too...I think someone did a write up about it....

EDIT: here it is....http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=153937

Re: Wind wing rivet repair -

Most vendors here should have the pivot rivets. I got some from Classic Parts of America, or formerly "Chevy Duty"

I looked for my extras also..I had chrome ones for the wing window pivot and brass ones for the rubbers .. The pivot one is larger than the brass ones that hold the rubber on, papa

I got mine from The Truck Shop also. I am local to them, and they always have what I need in stock.

Re: Wind wing rivet repair -

Forgive my ignorance, but what does the "rivet tool" look like and where can I get one? I have a pop rivet gun but I know that's not the right one. I looked online and there's a million different kinds. Does anyone have a picture or a link to one?

Re: Wind wing rivet repair -

These are "buck" rivets. The rivet tool is similar to a punch tool. You back the rivet on a solid surface like a flat spot on a vise or something flat and hard, line up the tool on the other side and give it a good whack. The tool is made to mushroom the end of the rivet. Heres one- http://www.manestruckparts.com/store...Category_ID=22
