another square in the movies...

First off I can't stand these movies. For me the only good car movies are Billet, American graffiti, Two lane black top, vanishing point, dual, the orginal gone in 60 seconds and wild marry and crazy larry or however that title went.

Still a cool square tho

and for the older crowd........

Watch the movie "The Driver"

There's a chase seen between a square body and a '75-'76 Trans Am.

Pretty cool

Re: another square in the movies...

Yeah, those are both kinda cool. But, I'm not a big fan of these cornball movies. In fact, I'm rather irritated. It appears like a Buick is gonna be one of the stars. I've always kinda been under the radar with these cars. They generally only get attention from true enthusiasts. I'm afraid that is about to change though. Soon I'll have every little boy racer asking me how much NAWS I'm spraying.

I hear you. Thats why I don't like the new movies. Most of it aint real. I saw part of one of the parts where they wreacked a GN if it was a GN I hope not. You could see the fuel sell and all the under carriage junk. At least in the older movies they where actually real cars not CGI stuff. I think the buicks will stay under the radar tho. They have always been that way .

Re: another square in the movies...

That crew is very sweet. Another movie which isn't so popular that has a good amount of scenes with squares is At Close Range with Sean Penn and Christopher Walken. The movie even opens up with Sean driving around in his 73-80 truck. There is a good scene on youtube of walken doing donuts in a 73-80 swb. Type "at close range" on youtube and it's the first vid. It's got swearing and stuff so I didn't want to post it here.

Re: another square in the movies...

Back in the day when Cbs or NBC had movies, In 1987 they came out with one called American Harvest that is loaded with square bodies and has a couple 67-72s in it too. Its pretty cool!

Re: another square in the movies...

Naws is awesome...lol I don't care for the fast and furios movies, but probably the closest movie in corniness was the original gone in 60 seconds, which is bar none my fav car movie ever. It's kinda like a porn where they try to stick a story into it but it really only about driving a mean car fast as heck. I'm just not into the import scene, I have an '01 ford focus and the only thing I've done to it was lowered it an inch so it didn't look dumb. Otherwise it's bone stock, All my efforts go into the 78 Chevy. Mainly my thing against the imports is "why start out with half an engine, when a whole engine will do much much better?" And the whole put 10k into a 4 banger, and put 10k into an 8 cyl, who's on top argument.

It is funny you bring that up. I am not gonna bash on the imports too much because I understand where the younger people are getting them. cheap and good on gas. That said I am no fan of the import. They have no torque no matter how much u dump into a 4 banger it is never gonna put you back in your seat like a v8. and if you invest the same amount well that V8 is crazy. I kinda wish i was around during the hay day of American muscle and not the import invasion. Plus you just can't top the sound of an old pushrod v8 thumping away. I don't see the attraction of sounding like a steet bike....................

Re: another square in the movies...

Here's that clip from The Driver that was mentioned above. This was posted 3 years or so ago here and I added it to my favorites on youtube. Almost 10 solid minutes of the C10 stepside chasing the firebird. Judging by the age of the movie, that's probably a heated/chopped coil lowering job, too.

Embedding is disabled, so you're gonna have to go check it out over there...

Would you really want them to wreck your truck for a movie that makes every hockey puck with a Civic think he has a "race car", I know I wouldnt allow them to use mine, even if they did fix it after they were done.

I wouldn't allow my truck to be in a movie, but if they would pick up a couple junkie truck's from the junk yard that would be good
