Pictures of Correct 6 cylinder engine mounts?
Does anyone have a photo of the correct engine mount for a six cylinder to install in my 66? I have a 77 year 250 straight six to install but the 77 engine mounts don't work to the truck and the original flat mounts from 66 don't work to my newer straight six engine.

Not 100% sure what you need, but since my front clip is off and the motor is still intact I figured I'd share. I needed to take some photos anyways for my memory sake before I tear it all off, strip and paint.
Keep in mind this supposed to be a 66 Chevelle 250 in a 65 C10. 1st is head one, 2nd-3rd are passenger side, 4th is drivers so you could see around the fuel pump. Those pictures are exactly what I needed, thanks for the sanity check on my end!
The mount that bolts to the engine block, correct me if I'm wrong here but is that peculiar to a mid 60's block only or will that also bolt up to my 70's straight six? steve |

Way to go Kizer! LOL. It was friggin cold when I went out to take pictures, and dang if you didn't beat me too it!
Steve, My pics are just the same, but I will email them to you anyway. I have your email from the other post. The block casting for the L6 short deck (230, 250) was the same from 60s, 70s, and 80s until they quit building them. Your motor mounts-to-block should fit all. They only difference as I know it is the passenger side of the Tall deck 292 where the motor mount is moved forward. Heater

Thanks all for the photos. You've confirmed my truck has the wrong perches in it from the previous owner. I would give my buddy a holler who I purchased the truck from but he's currently stationed in Japan with the Marines.

I am looking at a 292 to replace my 327 would it be easier to find a 250 because of the motor mounts, or will a 292 bolt in with relatively easy modification?

The 230 and 250 should be much easier to find because they were in cars too, the 292 was only in trucks, and they are much more scarce. Here in Texas I had to look for some time to find a good one; I'm about to send it to the machine shop; meanwhile, my old 230 I will give to someone if they come get it.
The 230, 250 should mount on the small block frame perches with no mods; The 292 has staggered mounts requiring the passenger side frame perch to be relocated forward. Unless your 327 is exploded, or already bored .060 and trashed again, it is a popular block. I recommend you rebuild the 327. It has more performance and economy than the L6 plus, more options, parts are cheaper and easier to find. (I have one-'68 Camaro) If you need torque for hauling/pulling a load, find a 292.

I talked to the guy with the six cylinder and he says its a 265? I need something to drop in the truck that runs because its my daily driver. I do plan on rebuilding the 327. So does a 265 use the same mounts as a 250?

I never heard of a Chevy six that was a 265. Before 63 was the 235 and the 261, truck engine that was later replaced by the 292. the new family debuted in 62 with the 194, then the 230, 250 and the 292 was the last.
Mounts for the older 235/261 are different, the block is wider. The new family all use the same mounts, except for the 292 with the passenger side mount moved ahead one cylinder.
