Factory Lifts
Hey folks. I'm looking at buying a 1984 Chevy 4X4 half ton truck that has a 5" lift on it. The owner tells me that it came from the factory that way. Does anyone have any information on what kinds of lifts (if any) came on these trucks from the factory. Thanks.

Re: Factory Lifts
I have never heard of that. I have heard of promotional trucks with lifts but never of a factory lift for this vintage.

Re: Factory Lifts
That's exactly what I was thinking. Let me ask this question. If I get this truck I'll be wanting to lower that thing down some. I've only got one step ladder and my wife keeps it inside. Could I just purchase, for example, a 2" lift kit and install that and bring the truck back down to earth, or is it more involved than that? I was thinking it would be just springs and maybe the spring blocks in the rear. It has an automatic tranny in it so I wouldn't think there would be any linkage issues, or would there? It currently has 33" tires on it and I would want to put something like 31's on it.

Re: Factory Lifts
It may have been a dealer installed modification. A local Chevrolet dealership here often customizes new trucks to appeal to the local desire of buyers. 31's on a 2 inch lift would work, and you could potentially sell the parts you removed during the process.

Re: Factory Lifts
s mentioned it might have been a dealer installed item, but def not "factory". It's hard to say what it will take to lower it, not knowing how it is lifted. Get more details.

Re: Factory Lifts
I'm going to take a look at it Wednesday. I'll know more about it then. The owner did tell me he "thought" it had a block under the springs in the rear and had high arched springs in the front. I'll know more when I see it.

Re: Factory Lifts
yeah I know a dealer down south offers or did anyways "bubba trucks". Thats what they called them and the dealer was lifing them 6 inches and putting on 35's. this was 3 or 4 years ago
