Put on your thinking caps....
Back in 2002 when i first moved to colorado i had to replace some u-joints in a chalet of all things while working at frieghtliner. The chalet had quite the outdoors paint scheme painted on the sides but i noticed it had twin saddle tanks hiding under her. The fill cap was accessed via the rear wheel well area.
Has anyone seen this before or remember who made these back in the day? DW

Re: Put on your thinking caps....
I have seen saddle tanks that fill through the wheel well. Can't remeber any brands though.

Re: Put on your thinking caps....
A friend of mine had the same thing on a 74 Blazer. He stated they were stock shortbed pickup tanks but they were on it when he got it so he wasn't positive. I'll see if I can get some measurements to confirm.

Re: Put on your thinking caps....
Cookie...you da man! Now we are getting somewhere.
I wonder if they just reversed the mounting brackets to the outside of the frame and there ya go? If so i can start scrounging tanks and brackets....add a couple 87 up used senders and tbi pumps....wire up switches and relays so one could pump from aux saddle tanks to refill the main tank... DW

Re: Put on your thinking caps....
the way my friends is mounted is just metal straps bolted to the bottom of the frame and then ran under the tank and bolted to were the arrow is in this pic and theres 4 straps holding it and as for pumps you can go to almost any parts store around here and get the pumps that mount along your frame. for example http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku and just wire it to a toggle to refill the main tank. Now that I think about the idea i like it if my jimmy didnt have a 32 gallon tank in it i would probally try to set something up!

Re: Put on your thinking caps....
The chalet has the factory 31 gallon fuel tank....of course non gm flavor and bought as an 87-91 K5 all steel unit (including baffle for tbi pump) from rock auto. GM plastic baffles had a bad habit of warping with weather changes and breaking the anchor rivets which then leads to the ye olde knocking the pump off the sender routine....
