Re: shawn57nomad's '71 C/10 Build-up

Well I guess we'll start with the purchase of my truck from a fellow buddy, also a board member, Bob 68327. For $1500.00 I bought a 1971 C/10 2wd LWB originally a 307 3-on-the-tree. Truck had never left the state of Iowa as far I could tell. Bob when you read this, correct me if I am wrong. I am the 4th owner of the pickup, it was purchased new by the Story County Conservation Service. Bare bones work truck! Fantastic Frost Green in the day with a HD rear bumper and white front. Intact with the truck was the owner's manual and the Protect-O-Plate with dealer pamphlet. Cool. This is not my first go around with one of these, my first was a 1971 K/10 SWB 402 BBC was stolen off my lawn in the state of Mississippi. It was stripped to nothing and what good was left of it was rolled off the trailer it was hauled on and not a straight panel was left on it...only the column and the bench were salvageable. That is a story for another time, since it took place about 6 years ago. MORE TO COME...

AH! I was moving all pics to CD so I had them all readily accessible for this...I slooooooooow! New Motor Build at Bob 68327's house down the street. Too much fun! Pulled the lower hose about 5 blocks away at my house and just getting hot on the way backing up his driveway. The Ole' engine was still real warm to the touch when we pulled it and still warm after we finished the new install...ET of install about an hour I'd say. IOWAN SUPER GAS TEAM @ it's finest!

Re: shawn57nomad's '71 C/10 Build-up

A little about the motor: 89 2 bolt 1pc rear main, steel crank, stock rods, and flat-tops, 280 Isky cam, Edelbrock AirGap, Moroso carb adapter, Holley Q-Jet, HEI...makes decent horsepower for only having about 600 bucks in it. Oh Yeah that includes the cam and Holeshot converter Bob did some trading on for me! Bob if you got more pics of build throw 'em in!
