Turn Signal Question

Ok this might be a really stupid question but anyway. On our trucks is the front parklights a turnsignal as well or are the sidemarkers our only front turnsignals. I have a 69-70 grill on now with no bumper. Thanks

Re: Turn Signal Question

in 69, the side markers were only reflectors unless otherwise optioned. (cab/chassis trucks were required to have side markers starting in 68 though)
I have seen 70 model trucks wired both ways to where the side markers flash, or don't flash. I did a poll on here 6 years ago or so and found that there are quite a few '70 that don't flash.

Re: Turn Signal Question

gotta love how these trucks were built.

things you would think that would be the same..like the WIRING of the signals...are different depending on the person working the assembly line that day

the side markers are TYPICALLY only lit up from '70 on
the markers inside the grille are TYPICALLY the only signals on the front.

but then, like longhornman said, some trucks had the side markers flash aswell. you will never find a truck where the markers in the grille do not flash.

Ive got a electrical nightmare, Ok so here are my symtoms.

Headlights on blinkers wont work at all.
Headlights off blinkers work but both rear blinkers blink.
Step on brakes with lights off and dash lights light up.

Any suggestions?

Someone on this site mentioned that a bad brake bulb can screw up the lighting system. So, I would check the bulbs.

On my 72, I noticed my front turn signals lights were on (not flashing). That was when my voltage regulator died. The truck was running off the battery.

As for side marker reflectors/lights. DOT required all passenger vehicles to have side reflectors or running lights from 68 on up. This was just a DOT safety issue, to increase parked vehicle, night visibility in poorly light areas. If you notice the some of the newer vehicles now have their tail lights wrap around or visible from the side.
