jonz 63 K20 build
dad and I went to look at , and bought a 63 chev truck today.
The ad said this:1963 chev 3/4 ton flat bed , runs. $400. well, it is all that, what he didn't mention, was that it is an original napco 3/4 ton 4WD, and it has a V8 that runs good! the ad ran for a week, probably would have sold sooner if he had mentioned those things. It has a clear title a mint grille, a good winshield$$$ and 2 extra doors that are in good shape. the owners manual is still in the glove box. It has the usual fender rust, but the floors and rockers look solid. the back of the cab is a little beat up, and the hood and one of the fenders have a few dents, but all and all it is pretty nice. We are going to pick it up thursday, and drive it home! I will get some pics for you guys when I get it home. the plan is to use the flatbed around the yard for a while, and then later on put a box on it and turn it back into a truck |

Re: well, I'm excited!
First off great find! Second if it is a Napco the front axle will look just like the back (a modified HO52). If it is not a Napco it will have a closed knuckle Dana 44 front axle. It should have 4.56 gear sets an HO52 rear axle, a Rockwell transfer case (divorced of course) and the Dana 44 front axle. you will be able to see the number 44 cast in the drivers side bottom web of the center section. Napco's did not have K vin numbers (that I know of since they were all converted 2wd trucks) and would have a normal C vin code. Either way a cool truck. It would look great with a longbed stepside on it! Like my avatar.

Re: well, I'm excited!
Here is a pic of my old 63 1/2 ton longbed. Dana 44 front and 12 bolt rear.
Also 2 pics of a Napco front end, 3/4 ton style. |
