72 K10 tranny ?

The two K10s I am trying to buy have four speeds in them. I have heard of the different number trannys but don't know anything about them. It does not list any trans on the glove box door, so what is standard in these trucks? What is good? What should I look out for? I had a four gear in my old 72 K5, was it the same trans? I am killing time wating for the owner of these two trucks to get back from hunting mountain lions (no kidding) see my other post for the whole story. If you have time like I do.
Merry Christmas. RObby

Hey Robby, if the trans is factory they should both be sm 465 top loaders, which should be the same as your old K5 had.

Thanks Chuck, Is there a good or bad to it? I really liked the one in my K5, major granny gear. Will it work good with my 3.73 gears and 33" tires?

Hey Robby, You will be fine. I have a SM465 in my 68 burb 4x4 and a SM420 in my 67 4x4. I have not had any trouble with either. The 420 has reverse down and to the left and the 465 is down and to the right. I think I have this all right. Randy
