can it be modified to fit?

i got a line on another blazer today, and it's a 4x4. i have no desire to own a 4x4 but do have a long and a short truck frame. has anyone ever modified or heard of modifying a truck frame to fit a blazer body. i'm gonna go ponder the possibilities with the help of my assembly manual while i wait for replys.

I have heard that you could just take the pick-up's front cross member and bolt that to the front of the blazer. Then, some guys get the 2wd shackels, or some guys take the whole trailing arm set-up, and install that. I think that would be easier than modifying a pick-up frame.

Hey lofly'a, there's a guy here in my town that took a longbed frame and shortened it to fit a blazer body, he also takes longbeds and makes shortbeds out of them, so it can be done. I just wouldn't want to trust a welded unboxed frame

blazer

You can grind rivet heads off all 4x4 shakels and knock out with punch.Parts are reuseable this way.Front is pretty much drill holes and bolt in.Rear of frame now needs 2wd leaf shackels bolted to frame with grade 8 bolts and lock nuts.Rear of 4x4 frame is wider than 2wd frame so if you want 6 lug reinstall your 4x4 rearend. If you want 5 lug. Cut straight mounts off 4x4 rear and weld on 5 lug rear. This is the cleanest way I have seen it done .No cutting and welding on frame and all # still match.Bring it to NC and I'll convert it for you for a small fee.

i have a 2wd leaf spring setup from the 71 gmc, but i want a trailing arm setup which i already have, sooooo..............i think i'll jump on this one and park it in the barn for a while. i am only plunking down a whopping 75 bucks for it, and it's only missing the front and rear chunk and t-fer case which i don't want anyway. i'm not worried about cutting and welding. the welds are the strongest part of the frame once reinforced, and i will probably weld reinforcements in lattice style instead of boxing to allow the frame to flex as intended. thanks for the info guys, anyone else have any input or history.
