My 72 LWB 2WD is in good enough shape to restore, but I gotta have music. I saw the radios in LMC $$$!! Is there another source for am/fm cd compatible receivers to fit my rig? What about speakers?

I bought one of the radio shack shaft style radios. Optimus I think is the brand. they are actually made from kenwood and pioneer parts. Has a tape deck and a cd input jack. you just plug your discman in and you have instant cd player, with no stupid tape adapter.

I never priced new radios before, but bought a cassette/am/fm electronic tune radio from Chevy duty for $225, which did not seem to bad to me, and it does hace a connection for a 6 cd changer, but since all I have is 45 rpm records, that was an extra cost I opted out of.
This radio is custom made to fit our trucks, so no worry about dash damage, or misfit dash plates. Looks nearly original, but sounds way better.

I got my radio from Southern Kentucky Classics. It's made to fit our trucks with no dash modification, it's a Kenwood AM/FM with cassette player, knobs match exactly to our wiper/headlight knobs, and sounds pretty good. Cost $159. I also got a dual voice coil speaker, that fits in the standard dash speaker location. It is one speaker, with a large magnet and two voice coils, so you can hook up both sides of a stereo radio. This also sounds pretty good, but of course you don't get the seperation that you would with seperate speakers. I think the speaker was around $130. All in all, a pretty good radio system that's easy to install, and looks stock. Their website is www.sokyclassics.com. The guy I talked to was very helpful and knowledgeable, and I had my radio in less than a week.

72BACK2NU, I see that you are in White City, I'm just over the hill in Grants Pass. I also see that you work for Martin Transp. Do you work at all with Steve Rudisill over at Boise Cascade? I know they were using Martin Transp for some of their freight needs. Also have a good buddy that dispatches. Are you familiar with Rebel Transp?
