Seat Belts and Dash Pad - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hi everyone. Gotta couple of questions. I'm replacing my belts and changing to Black and need to know where to get the same type. I have a bench seat with the belt going through/between the seat (female) and on my left(drivers side) the male part retracts.
Not sure if these are factory. Any help would be appreciated.

One other question; Is there a thread or FAQ on changing the dash pad? Or does anyone know where I can get some pics of doing the job, please?

The only way to remove a dash pad, is to take out the Gauge Cluster and Glovebox, maybe even the radio as well. It is bolted to the metal dash behind the pad by like 7 or more? Bolt that are on the back side.

To find black seat belts that are GM, you will need to look in salvage yards, on the parts board (but they go fast), or ebay. Trevor

if youre not worried about being correct you can get some individual seatbelts in black at the chain parts stores. they come in different lenghts i added a set the center of a bench seat and they worked great. they come with the bolts and everything you need to install. but they arent factory.

when you have your new dashpad in hand, look on the back/under it and you'll see exactly where the speed nuts are that hold it on. If memory serves, you'll need a 5/16 and a 3/8 socket... 1/4 inch drive and deep sockets worked best for me. If it is an A/C truck, you WILL cuss.... a LOT.
Then there's the phillips head screws on the front too, but I'm sure you saw them already.

You will have an easier time on the dash pad if you have several 1/4 in extensions and maybe a swivel or 2.A deep socket will fit the speednuts better and is easier to get on them.Unless it's already been replaced you want to get a new glovebox since it may be brittle and break when you take it out.If you have the 7 hole cluster be careful of the oil line.While the cluster is out clean the contacts and check the bulb sockets and bulbs.

Don't cinch the speednuts down too tight when you put the new dash pad in or you will get an uneven/warped look.

Check out LMC for the belts. Repros close to original design in almost all color options for 67-72 interiors. Decent pricing too.

just got LMC 3 point belts that look nice, but I haven't installed them yet - and a Brother's dash pad that isn't too bad for only $67 now that it's on sale. It comes with the underside bolts but does not include the front face screws, you need to order those seperate.
