Thumbs up Sport Mirrors......

I finally got my sport mirrors put on!! I ordered some gaskets, plates, & screws from Kenny's Trucks and done the deed.

It's so nice to actually be able to see what's happening behind me on both sides of the truck and have that little peep mirror off! Now I can get rid of it and get on with the next stage of the project!

Geepers, creepers.......I got me new peepers!

No, there's a fella that lives close to me that has a '72 cheyenne w/sport mirrors. I stopped by his house and took pics/measurements and then went home and marked/drilled holes......and then put on the mirrors/plates w/the help of my b-n-law.

Re: Sport Mirrors......

questions...i have mirrors on my truck that look like the little peep mirrors (smal & round ) but they are mounted in the normal position. my truck is a 69, and everything on the outside is bone stock (or so i think) I am just wondering if it was a stock mirror, or if they are aftermarket?

Jason,

If they are held on by one screw front and back or just one screw in the back, on the base, they are probably after market. Originals had three screws in the base, one in front and two in the rear.

Re: Sport Mirrors......

There were some posted for sale in the '67-'72 parts board not too long ago.

I got mine for a really fair price off of a board member sevral months back. Like everything else on these trucks.......they can make you open your wallet pretty wide.

How close are your measurment to the ones in the FAQs? I heard that one mirror is not in the same place and the other but dont remeber which?

Re: Sport Mirrors......

I put mine 8" off of the front edge of the door and 3" from the top edge of the door (bottom of glass). It may not be correct by factory measurements, but it'll do for me.

I haven't looked at the faqs to be honest w/you though.

Drivers door is 7" back from the edge and passengers door is 8" back from the edge on the stock doors I have. That would be to the front screw hole.

Re: Sport Mirrors......

My bone stock 71 C10 has the drivers side 7.25" back from the door edge and the passenger side is 4.5" back from the door front edge.

The passenger side mirror is borderline useless.

Here is a picture of a 70 GMC I had a couple years ago. somone changed the mirror heads but you can see the original mounting 3 screw base like Loc Doc mentioned.
