inline guys...i need help

i need some measurements for the oil dip stick. the PO took a small block stick, cut it and stuck it in(with no indicator marks!). there appears to be way too much oil in this thing.i cant seem to find a new or even used one anywhere? a pic of the stick with a ruler will be much appreciated. also, where can i find the timing mark on the balancer?

Re: inline guys...i need help

There was and I tried to get a shot of them but it wouldn't turn out on the photo...

(running out to the garage...)

Okay it looks like this:

....(.5")....(1")....(1.5")....(2")
....ADD.....................FULL

The "A" begins at the .5" mark on the tape measure, and the last "L" ends at the 2" mark.

Does that make sense?

Re: inline guys...i need help

Easy to find out if it's off. Just change the oil and filter, add the recommended amount for a 64 Impala 250, run it for a few minutes. Let it set for a while, check the oil again.

I did that on my 1975 Impala 350 engine that I put in my 69. Dipstick was an aftermarket.

My manual shows 5 qts with oil filter change for a six cylinder '65 Impala. It's the same on all 250's.
