New Blower Motor and Fan

I purchased both a new blower motor and new fan for my 72 pickup w/out AC. When installing the new fan onto the motor, where does the clip go that was provided with the new fan?? I was guessing that the clip should slide onto the motor shaft first, followed by the fan. Any Ideas???
Thanks

Re: New Blower Motor and Fan

Thanks 463. I imagine that the clip maintains clearence for the fan from the back surface of the blower motor. My old blower and fan are too far away to reference so I do appreciate the info!!
Thanks for the help!
