Front wiring harness question...
Ok, so I've finally decided to clean up my front wiring harness, and I've come across a wire that doesn't seem to have a connection.
There's a white fiber-wrapped wire that is contained in the front wiring harness under the hood lip above the firewall. It runs to a junction block on the firewall under the brake booster. From there it travels along the top of the firewall and near the passenger side of the firewall it splits into two yellow wires. Yellow wire goes to the + side of the coil, while the other yellow wire traveled down toward the transmission, but is disconnected, broke, dirty, and doesn't look like it's been connected to anything for a while. I have no idea where it should go. My detent switch for my 400 is connected and on the right circuit, so that's not it. Anyone know?

If you still have points, it should be connected to the "R" terminal on the starter solenoid.

If you have HEI that wire is garbage. Cut it at the firewall. (junction box all the wires meet there.)

Well, I still have points. The starter is pretty filthy. Is the "R" side the outside of the starter? Is it the side that runs to the + side of the coil? If it is what's the point of having it connected?

Yes, it would be the small outside terminal marked "R", the small inside one would be marked "S" and should have a purple wire attached. The "R" terminal will send a direct 12 Volts to the coil while the starter is cranking to ensure a strong spark output. After the starter is released and the engine is running the engine will operate off the resister wire with reduced current.
