Hello all, I have lurked here for a while and finally decided to join.... I am gathering parts to start a 68 c10 short step and need to get a motor. I have the ability to get a entire setup from a 2001HD chevy, the truck has 105000 miles but runs great, what is a used LQ4 motor, transmissoin, harness setup worth? I know i will need different mounts and other things just have to decide what the motor is worth, input on pricing would very much appreciated.

Can't help you on cost but wanted to welcome you to the 67-72 board...

I'm am mostly familiar with the old iron but this sucker is one nice looking engine for one of our trucks.

I think a good price for that would be in the $1500-2000 range. Probably more towards the 2000.

yikes, im glad that guy is way off. swing by ls1tec.com alot of good info and some pricing stuff.
im picking up a 5.3, harness, ecm and fresh 4l60e for less than a grand.

my sbc just scattered a crank and i cant build a decent sbc for what the swap for an ls swap.
IMO the ls engines look like chit, but you cant beat the performance, mielage and reliability.

I would say 1-1.5k depending on tranny. The 4l80E's are worth usually double a 4l60E. The 6.0's are also worth more than the 5.3's. What heads are on it? 2001 still had iron heads in some vehicles, ie. work trucks, vans, etc.

x2 on the 6.0's being worth more than 5.3's. Plus the LQ4 has dished pistons with lower compression which is good for boost.

Will it come with all the accessories too? If you can get it for around $1500 I think it could be a good deal if you can hear it run.

like mentioned, make sure its the 6.0 with aluminum heads...

Thank you for the replies. I can hear it run as it is still in the truck (01 3/4ton salvage), it runs good, heads look to be Alum and have 317 stamped in the front corner. Yes all accessories come with it, Air conditioning still blows cold in the truck..... The price I am seeing in the post are about what I was thinking but guess I will see what the owner wants, as this will be a price for all the motor parts/accessories I want. I looked up the VIN code on the truck and it confirms its a LQ4.
Any additional info/suggestions/comments are welcomed.

I am Motor deficient when it comes to value but I can say and to the best forum about our trucks. When it comes to knowledge about our trucks (67-72) this is the place. Sounds like you have some neat plans for your 68. When you get a chance how about some pics. Ok...it's time for the dance.

Between $800 and $1500 seems to be the going rate with trans. I think it should be a 4l80 as well. If so the trans alone would bring $500-$800.

Wow! If you can get transmission, engine, wiring harness, and all the accessories and runs good, for less than $2,000, it would be a good deal. I've priced a crate 350 for $1500 to $1700 here at the dealer.
