Exclamation I know I know but.. 73upfront susp on 67=72

Im getting a wrecked front end from a 77 1/2ton truck with only 78K on it. I plan on changing out the entire crossmember for my 67. I remember reading All of the bolts match up with the frame but a few. Which ones are they? Pics if available please. Im finally ready to get this under my 67. Oh and can I use the disc brake proportion valve from the 77?

There are 14 bolts that secure the crossmember to the frame. Twelve of them line up exactly. The other two are slightly off. I find it easiest to install the crossmember and secure with the twelve bolts, then take a drill bit and drill to egg shape the remaining two bolt holes. They are that close.

A lot of guys use the whole brake system off the late model truck on the swap. Do be aware though, that the proportioning valve on the later models mount down low under the radiator area, rather than on the master cylinder on the firewall. As long as you swap the whole lines and all, it simply requires drilling a couple if holes to mount the prop valve on the earlier truck. Everything will lay in place on the earlier truck. Simply install the whole deal and drill the mounting holes as needed to secure the lines and valve.

I don't know if this copy and paste will work or not but I'll try it. The following is from an earlier thread....

Shifty,

Maybe I'm not understanding your post but I have replied in most of the following threads (with pictures) about the differences in the frame holes. The last link mentions the difference in frame height.
